Why Tech Beyond Gender Exists
Throughout my career, I have always been drawn to understanding people — what holds them back, what inspires them, and what helps them move forward. Through classrooms, workplaces and community conversations, I have seen how confidence, connection and opportunity can transform lives.

The Problem We Are Trying to Address
Human Potential Exists Everywhere. Opportunity Does Not.
Across workplaces, communities and leadership conversations, we repeatedly encounter the same challenge.
Many capable people never fully realise what they are capable of.
Not because they lack talent, intelligence or ambition, but because confidence, visibility, belonging, support networks and opportunities are often missing.
At the same time, organisations genuinely want people to thrive, yet often struggle to understand what creates engagement, belonging, wellbeing and high performance.
The result is a gap between human potential and human experience.
Tech Beyond Gender exists to help close that gap.
Our Journey
How we got here?
Tech Beyond Gender began with a simple goal: to better understand the experiences of women and underrepresented groups in technology and to create a platform where their voices could be heard.
Through research, podcast conversations and community engagement, we uncovered deeper themes that extended far beyond technology and gender alone.
Again and again, people spoke about confidence, belonging, leadership, visibility, wellbeing, career growth and the importance of supportive workplaces.
What started as a conversation about diversity evolved into a broader exploration of what helps people thrive and what creates human-centred workplaces.
Today, Tech Beyond Gender brings together:
- Research and workplace insights
- Leadership perspectives
- Voices of Impact
- Podcast conversations
- Mentoring and coaching
- Workplace partnerships
Together, these initiatives help create positive ripples of impact—from individuals, to workplaces, to communities.
Impact & Recognition
Our work has contributed to national conversations on workplace culture, inclusion, leadership and the future of work.
Through research, media engagement, industry events and community initiatives, Tech Beyond Gender has helped amplify perspectives that might otherwise go unheard.

Meet the Founder
Meena Satishkumar founded Tech Beyond Gender after years of working across education, technology and community initiatives, where she witnessed how confidence, encouragement and opportunity can transform lives.
Her journey began in education, where she worked with mature students returning to study and witnessed firsthand how confidence, encouragement and belief can transform lives.
As a migrant to New Zealand, she also experienced the challenges of building a life, career and network from the ground up. These experiences shaped her passion for creating opportunities, amplifying diverse perspectives and helping people realise their potential.
Alongside her work in technology architecture and leadership, Meena has facilitated mentoring initiatives, conducted workplace research, hosted conversations with leaders across New Zealand and internationally, and created programmes focused on confidence, wellbeing and growth.
She founded Tech Beyond Gender to create a platform where stories, research and human connection come together to help people and organisations thrive.
